Nevis and St. Kitts
This spring we will be visiting the sister islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. St. Kitts and Nevis, like no other islands in the Caribbean, seem to embody a kind
of lush tropical paradise usually associated with the South Pacific. Nevis, the "Queen of
the Caribbees," possessed unimaginable wealth from its super-productive sugar industry, while on St. Kitts the impregnable fortress of Brimstone Hill stood as the Gibraltar of the West Indies. At the
center of St. Kitts stands the spectacular, cloud-fringed peak of Mount Liamuiga, a dormant volcano covered by dense tropical forest. On Nevis, too, the ground rises upward into a cloud
forest filled with elusive green monkeys and brilliant tropical flowers. We have two wonderful weeks planned with one week at each island. You can join us for either week or both weeks.
March 26 – April 2 will be spent at Oualie Beach Hotel (www.oualiebeach.com) in Nevis.
Situated on enchanting Oualie Beach, this hotel has 34 rooms in gingerbread-style cottages. A center for watersports on the island, Oualie offers guests a casual, stress-free ambiance and
a genuinely friendly staff. The rooms are scattered along the beach in single and two story Caribbean style cottages and are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling
fan, cable TV, hairdryer, fridge/minibar, and private bathroom with bath amenities. The full-service restaurant serves three meals daily.
April 2-9 will be spent at the Sugar Bay Club (www.sugarbayclub.com) in St. Kitts in their one bedroom
cottage suites. The resort is set amidst 5-acres of landscaped garden on the edge of a golden sand beach in the lively Frigate Bay area of St. Kitts. The focal point of the hotel tends to be the resort's 80 ft.
main pool, its waterfall, wooden bridge and lush
landscaping. The one-bedroom cottage suites are equipped with a mini-fridge, coffee/tea maker, air-conditioning, private bathroom with shower/bath, hairdryer, cable television, telephone, sitting area or
balcony. Other recreational facilities include an air-conditioned fitness room and the Royal St. Kitts Hotel 18-hole golf course less than a 10-minute walk away.
Scuba Safari (www.scubanevis.com) operates their dive shop right at Oualie Beach
Resort, which makes this place perfect for divers. With dozens of reefs and wrecks just minutes offshore, even the most experienced divers are impressed with the wide variety of choices. Scuba
Safari will provide the diving for both the Nevis and St. Kitts locations.
The packages include: all ground and boat transfers, 7 nights accommodations based on double occupancy, 6 days of 2-tank boat diving per week
with Scuba Safari, tanks, weights and belt, taxes and service charges. Airfare from Minneapolis and breakfast are included for the Nevis only trip, but not included in the St. Kitts only or two-week trip.
Cost:
